But we will still highlight a few basics before explaining the winning tricks. 

The Wheel

The American Roulette has 38 slots and each slot has  numbers from 1 to 36, 0 and 00 on them Each slot will alternate between pairs of odd and even numbers and in colors too; they alternate between black and red. Except 0 and 00 are in green. 

The dealer spins the wheel in a certain direction and rolls a ball in the opposite direction. The ball lands on one of the slots.

The Table

The table has all numbers from 1 to 36 placed in three columns of 12 rows; broken down as 1 2 3, 4 5 6 , 7 8 9 etc. Rest of the table is for placing bets. The numbers 0 and 00 are omitted from the table. There are two types of bets: inside bets and outside bets. 

Inside Bets

Straight bets- A chip is placed on the number on which the player wants to place his bet. In case that number wins, payoff is 35:1.

Split Bets

Here the player takes a chance and predicts one of the two numbers that lie next to each other will win. The chip is placed on the line that separates the two numbers. The payoff is 17:1.

Street bet- The player bets that any number in a particular row will hit on the next spin. Player wins if any number in that row appears. The payoff is 11:1.

Five Number set

Player places his bet on either 1, 2, 3, 0 or 00. Chip is placed on the line dividing 1 and 0. Payoff is 6:1.

Six line Bet

Players bets that one of the six numbers in two consecutive rows will be rolled. Chip is placed on the line between the two rows. Payoff is 6:1.

Outside Bets

Red, Black, even, odd, low, high dozen and column are the kinds of outside bets.

Let us now take a look at the strategies to win Roulette:

• Martingale strategy: Player increases his bet amount on consecutive losses and decreases the bet on winning in order to recover from the loss.
• Reverse Martingale strategy: Player increases his bet on winning and decreases the bet on losing. Done in order to have minimal loss.
• D’Alembert strategy: Much safer to use compared to the above two.
• Fibonacci strategy: Bets are placed by adding up the previous two bets and in this case players will leave with a profit even if he has lost more games than won.
• James Bond strategy: Players will need a minimum of $200 to play this strategy.
